PHILOSOPHY

My goal as facilitator in a secondary education setting:

 

CONNECT to students as individuals

  • Get to know them well

  • Where are they coming from - homelife, previous education, country?

  • How do they learn best?

  • How do I differentiate their learning to make them successful?

  • Recognize differences and help students see potential strength in this

  • Celebrate effort and success

  • Build a community within

 

EMPOWER

  • Help students see their gifts

  • Plan around their needs to show them their strengths

  • Encourage creative/outside the box thinking

  • Remind students of their own personal journey

 

FACILITATE. Students will become:

  • Independent thinkers through creative learning such as Project Based Learning

 

MAKE 21st century SKILLS a PRIORITY. Students will learn to:

  • Solve problems flexibly

  • Think critically

  • Use knowledge and skill sets in new situations

  • Set personal learning goals

  • Self check for understanding

  • Access resources for enhancing understanding

  • Become self motivated learners

 

GUIDE PRINCIPLES. Identify what these skills look like and how as a teacher, I will help students achieve these in and outside the classroom to become productive members of society.
